The Elements video

I liked the elements video because it was very informative while entertaining at the same time.  What I didn't like is that sometimes they would have text at the bottom telling you facts but sometimes you wouldn't see them and you would miss out on the cool facts.  My three favorite elements are oxygen, helium, and potassium.  I like oxygen because it keeps us alive.  I like helium because it makes balloons and it makes your voice high if you breathe it in.  I like potassium because potassium is good for you and it is in bananas.  My least favorite elements are Plutonium, Uranium, and Hydrogen because they are all very dangerous.

F=S=A Format

F=S=A is Formula=Substitution=Answer.  Here is an example of it by finding Density.
The mass of the object is 8, and the volume is 16
First right the formula  D=M/V.
Next substitute in the formula   D=8/16
Next find the answer  D=1/2

Personally, I like F=S=A format.  I like it because it helps you organize things.  It gives you a less chance for error.  Well at least for me.  I am also used to using F=S=A format because we use it in math classes as well.

Day 11: Oxygen, Dalton's Atomic Theory, and Writing Chemical Formulas

  1. Elements are made of tiny particles called atoms.
I believe that this theory is true.  I believe this because atoms make up everything, including elements.

    2.  All atoms of a given element are identical.

I do not agree with this because isotopes of an atom have different weights.

    3.  Atoms cannot be split, created, or destroyed.

I do agree with this because it refers to the law of conservation of matter.

    4.  Atoms of different elements combine in simple whole-number ratios to form compounds.

I do agree with this because it refers to the law of definite proportions.

    5.  A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms.

Yes, I agree with this because that is part of the definition of a chemical reaction.

Japan Tsunami effects Seattle

Japan had their major earthquake which lead to a tsunami in March.  This Tsunami effected the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.  I read in Popular science an article about this.  It said how the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant being effected is effecting Seattle.  The air harvests the this things coming into Seattle.  They did a clean up in March in Japan but that was as well as they could do.  I've been praying for Japan since the day this happened, and I hope everything can be fixed.
